I know I’m a little late, but every year I really do look forward to the month of October. Not only is it my birthday month and marks the beginning of Fall, but most importantly, it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As a volunteer for the American Cancer Society’s “Look Good…Feel Better” Program, I get to see and experience the “Power of Powder” up close and personal.
For the past six (6) years, this experience has made me firmly believe that one form of breast cancer therapy can be found right in a woman’s very own cosmetic bag. There you will definitely discover the power of highlighting the window of your soul with satin and shimmering eyeshadows; smell the scent of face powder as it glides across your face; and delight in the many selections of blushes and bronzers that compliment your lip color just perfectly.
If you know of someone that has recently been diagnosed with cancer or is undergoing cancer treatment, I would like you to encourage her to make an appointment to come see me to experience a one-on-one makeup lesson I call, “I Empower Beauty.” The concept of the lesson is to teach women proper skincare and makeup techniques beginning with their existing products and also recommending additional products, if needed.
My primary goal is NOT to sell products, but to educate women about their skincare and makeover needs. I want to help women to be proactive with their beauty therapy, because I firmly believe that cancer does not have to dictate how a person looks and feels about herself.
